The Artist

Scott
Mortensen

Sculptor · Storyteller · Son of the West

Scott Mortensen is a Western bronze artist and sculptor creating original Western and wildlife bronze sculptures inspired by the American West. His detailed fine art bronze sculptures capture the strength, movement, and character of Western wildlife, from powerful bison and soaring eagles to works honoring Native American heritage and the landscapes of the West.

Each original bronze sculpture begins by hand in clay or wax, where Scott carefully develops the form, texture, and character of the piece. The finished sculpture is then cast in bronze using the traditional lost-wax casting process, a time-honored method used to create lasting, highly detailed bronze artwork.

From Western bronze sculpture and wildlife art to limited-edition and collectible bronze sculptures, Scott Mortensen’s work reflects a deep appreciation for Western culture, wildlife, and the rugged beauty of the American landscape. Each piece is created to become a timeless work of Western fine art for collectors, homes, and collections.

Craftsmanship

The Art of
Bronze Casting

From first sketch to finished bronze — an ancient process, a timeless result.

01

Concept & Sketch

Every sculpture begins with observation — studying the subject in its natural habitat to capture authentic movement and emotion in careful sketches.

02

Clay Modeling

The form is sculpted by hand in clay or wax — building anatomy layer by layer until every muscle, texture, and expression is perfected.

03

Lost-Wax Casting

Using the ancient cire perdue technique, a ceramic mold is created and molten bronze is poured — a process unchanged for thousands of years.

04

Patina & Finish

Chemical patinas are applied with heat to achieve rich, warm bronze tones. Each piece is sealed and mounted on a hand-selected stone or wood base.
